🎀...WHY WE ARE WHERE WE AREπŸ“Œ

Reflections on powerful individuals and weak or non-existent institutions.πŸͺœ

We are unwilling to make our institutions and systems work. This is deliberate. Yes!

By we, I mean that our leaders and policymakers derive joy in benefitting from contrived lapses in the system.

Hence, we have powerful individuals and weak public institutions.

Which Bank in Nigeria does not know how many customers it has and in which Branch the account was first opened?

How about the working idea of ATM, POS electronic fund transfer, and transactions within and across the banks and financial sectors?

How did they do it?

Is it magic? NO!

On the contrary, which political party in Nigeria knows how many members it has even at the ward level not to talk about the total number of its members nationwide?

Why are the political parties not able to know their total number of members?

Is maintaining a verifiable and reliable e-membership party register an impossibility given that the technology for doing so is available, at least with the banks?

Figure that out and know that the refusal of our political parties to improve on internal party democracy and transparency is deliberate.

How about the conduct of general elections?

In present-day Nigeria, who is able to successfully cheat the communication service providers by being able to load any MTN or AIRTEL or GLO card twice or more and why is it impossible?

Are registrations cum examinations and release of results by public institutions like Universities and JAMB not successfully done online?

Is it rocket science? NO!

So why are our elections not working with our PVCs and why do we still have incidences of thuggery, electoral fraud, multiple voting, and associated vices?

Some people are definitely benefitting from these institutionalized anomalies and sadly,  they are happy with that.

Unless and until we have in place true, honest, and committed leadership desirous of righting the wrongs, things will continue to go topsy-turvy.

That is why we are where we are.

A new normal is possible!
