Leader of the Niger Delta Crusaders, Engr. Dimbainimibofa N. Umukoro Congratulates His Mentor General Tompolo on the Pipeline Surveillance Contract

It is cheering and heartwarming news that the Federal Government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari,  thought it wise and expedient to award such a strategic security job to a worthy son of the Niger Delta Region in no lesser personality than High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, aka General Tompolo GOC.

No doubt, this noble gesture from the Nigerian government will to a large extent placate the heightening agitation and bring peace and development to the Niger Delta Region.

Like the saying, he who the cap fits, let him wear it. In this era of the Niger Delta struggle, there can be no better shoulder than General Tompolo's to rest this huge responsibility of securing the nation's critical infrastructure considering his vast experience in security matters coupled with his ethnic and regional network.

Who says commitment and patriotism doesn't pay, we shall point you to the Ibe- Ebidouwei 1 of the Niger Delta.

The Oporoza born Niger Delta Liberationist has paid his dues, using his private funds to preach peace and also pleading with our brothers who are into illegal bunkering, oil theft, and pipeline vandalization to abandon this illegal though justifiable trade.

It is an incontrovertible fact that General Tompolo, is at the forefront and ardent supporter of the Niger Delta resources control and self determination struggle, therefore, giving him the humongous task of securing the vast expanse of pipelines in the region is never a missed place priority.

While nothing but resources control and self determination can be given Niger Deltans to assuage our sufferings and compensate for the long years of marginalization, oppression, intimidation, etc this olive branch extended to us should be seen as an added advantage as it is capable of dousing the tension the none constitution of a substantive board of the NDDC is causing in the region at the moment.

Though, while resource control and self determination remain our sole objective, we shouldn't be unmindful of the fact that a strategic approach is a dire need if we must achieve our aim.

Therefore, in light of the above, we are calling on all Izons and Niger Deltans to shun all divisive tendencies such as politics, religion, ethnicity, creed, education, and social status but to lend support to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka General Tompolo GOC, to succeed in this onerous task.

In the same vein, we use this medium to congratulate the living legend of our time on his new national assignment.

While not conceding the fact that this present administration like others before has treated the Ijaws and Niger Deltans unfairly, we take this gesture as the first step to penance.

Once again while we celebrate with our illustrious son on this landmark achievement, we hail the goodwill demonstrated by His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, president  Federal Republic of Nigeria, and in like manner urge him to without further delay constitute the substantive board of the NDDC to erase his name from the bad book of the region.

It is our wish that the Almighty God lavish wisdom on the foremost Liberationist for the Odysseus task ahead.
