The 2023 Barugu Festival in Ogbinbiri Community in Egbema Kingdom of Warri North LGA of Delta State

Criss Crossing the length and breadth of the Niger Delta Region seeking synergy amongst critical stakeholders in the struggle, Comrade Super Layefa Kamboh, aka General Seven Seas' train stopped at Ogbinbiri Community in Warri North LGA of Delta State, where he actively and prominently participated in the ancient barugu festival.

The barugu is a deity believed to offer protection as well as bring good fortunes to the people.

The barugu festival presents an avenue for sons and daughters of Ogbinbiri from all works of life to congregate and reflect on the out gone year in order to chat a new course for the new year.

Like every other festival, the prestigious barugu festival is an age long traditional practice of the people of Ogbinbiri Community and had survived many centuries.

Suffice to say that this classical traditional practice is as old as the ancient kingdom itself for it has past on from one generation to the other.

Since it is a truism that culture is the totality of the way of life of a people which ultimately distinguishes them from others, the people of Ogbinbiri are not ready to abandon their rich cultural heritage as they more than ever intend to preserve it for future generations through this annual commemoration.

This year's annual ritual of the spectacular barugu festival holds a special place in history as it coincides with the 2023 general elections.

Interestingly, since peace happens and remains the choicest commodity in the nation at the moment, traditional worshippers and dignitaries took turn to pray for peaceful 2023 general and peace in Ijaw land in particular.

Comrade Super Layefa Kamboh, alias General Seven Seas, as an ardent believer of culture in his good will message urged the people to sustain this rich cultural heritage stressing that it is a precious gift worth gifting to the next generation.

The Tantita Security Maestro, also seized the opportunity to appeal to all those involve in illegal bunkering activities in the oil rich Niger Delta to turn a new leaf and join hands with him in this Odysseus journey of restoring our environment from its lost glory.
