The Exit of a Titan @ 100 Years; HRH Richard Umukoro Itemisan, his Life and Times
Death as it is known is an inevitable end of all mortals and a debt all men must pay.
This assertion needs no further evidence to be true because even the Biblical Methuselah once succumbed to it.
However, what is most important in one's life journey on the planet earth is not necessarily its longevity, but the quality with which it is spent.
No doubt, death has dealt a heavy blow and left a devastating toll on the Umukoros, Eroune community, and the entire Okpe Clan in Delta State.
Born a century ago into the family of Itemisan, in the Eroune community in Okpe Clan of Delta State, HRH Richard Umukoro Itemisan, began his elementary educational journey at the then community missionary school where he obtained the mandatory certification.
However, not satisfied with the level of education coupled with his desire for a more healthy society, he delved into classical traditional medicine at his youthful age and became a master in the field.
HRH Richard Umukoro Itemisan, was extraordinarily endowed with uncanny wisdom making his palace a sort of Mecca where all that seek knowledge and counsel came to tap from his fountain/reservoir of knowledge.
As a quintessential Monarch, HRH Richard Umukoro Itemisan was an embodiment of love and humility who easily blended with all irrespective of social status, educational background, creed, ethnicity, religion, and tribe.
In fact, Pa was a detribalized man to a fault.
The Methuselah, of our time, was a bridge between the ancient and modern, the old and young, as his undying desire to see a peaceful society made him readily available to proffer solutions to crises whenever his wise counsel was sought.
The death of HRH Richard Umukoro Itemisan can be likened to the fall of an iroko tree in the dense tropical forest that brings down other surrounding trees making the forest looks like a football pitch. No doubt, the vacuum which the demise of this Patriarch has created in the traditional institution will be too difficult to fill.
Though no one person on earth can claim the monopoly of indispensability, howbeit, the shoe this icon has left behind is too big to easily get the feet to fit.
It is on this premise that we bid farewell to this patriarch as he is committed to mother earth.
It is also our belief and firm conviction that Papa is at the Lord's bosom smiling at us, saying all sorts of pleasant words to his loved ones and humanity in general.
Once again, we say rest on the bosom of the Lord...OSIA, OGBOGBOROU, OFEH, AKPAKPASIMAGHA continually in perfect peace ☮️
A farewell from a beloved grandson.😢😭
